Wheelchair Rental

Tips For Wheelchair Rental

There are lots of reasons you could need to rent a wheelchair. Maybe your primary chair is in for repairs and you need to get around now! You can't be bothered to wait 2-4 weeks while they drag their feet. If you are temporarily injured and need a wheelchair for a short period of time while you heal. Whatever the reason, wheelchair rental is not to be taken lightly. It requires at least as much planning as a car rental, probably more since you are going to be in the chair for far longer than you are in a car.

Make sure that you are getting a good brand. Medical supply stores and places that do wheelchair rental usually have a wide selection of brands. Especially if you are new to using a wheelchair, these brand names might not mean anything to you. Do some research ahead of time to make sure you aren't getting an inferior product or are at least getting the right price. These are like a pair of shoes except you will almost always be wearing them. You will be surprised that just a little more money spent on a slightly better brand will make quite a difference in comfort.

Make sure they let you test the chair out. Just like a pair of shoes, which you wouldn't think of buying without trying them on, you need to make sure there aren't any quirks that are going to make it uncomfortable for you. Wheelchairs are built to cater to as many people and body types as possible but there is nothing that says everyone will be fine in the same kind of chair. This is a possible danger in just ordering a wheelchair online verses wheelchair rental, you could spend lots of time sending back unsatisfactory products. Know what you are buying. Price is a big consideration. See if your insurance will help you cover the costs.

If you are only using it temporarily, wheelchair rental is affordable and advisable. There is a chance if you are going to need it for a long time, that it might be wiser to just flat out buy a wheelchair. Financing is available at many rental establishments. Plan your budget appropriately during the rental period.

Consider the advantages of renting a wheelchair and get in touch with your local medical supply store now.

I've found airports to be great at providing wheelchairs for you. Often when traveling I need to spend a lot of time at the airport before boarding the plane. It seems check-in times take so much longer these days. Having the opportunity to hire a wheelchair at the airport gives me the freedom to wander about as I please in the shops and restaurant's. It's a great service most airports seem to offer these days.

I was on vacation in Europe earlier this year and wasn't able to take my wheelchair with me. What I found was the opportunity to rent a wheelchair locally. I used the services of the hotel to find a rental company for me and I was able to go along to their shop and try out a few wheelchairs for size and comfort before renting. I was really pleased with the service and it was a big help to me to be able to travel without having to worry about taking my wheelchair with me.
