Mobility Scooter Batteries - Finding Your Replacements

When it comes to a point in your life that you need to make the tough decision to seek mobility assistance, the hearts of many people go out to you.  Right now, you may be feeling crushed.  The future you had planned has taken a sudden turn.  It has not stopped, it has just taken a sudden turn.  You will be able to do most of the things that you had wanted to do in your life, you will just need to do those things with a piece of equipment called a mobility  scooter.  Please do not feel embarrassed.  There are thousands upon thousands of people out there using this type of equipment.  Just browse the websites, and you will see how many companies are selling the equipment.  Just watch television and look in magazines and there you will also see the ads.  You are not alone.  You have joined a very large group. One of the biggest tasks you will have to face is the upkeep of your scooter.  Just like you had to occasionally replace parts on your car, you will have to replace parts on your scooter.  The main parts to replace will be mobility scooter batteries.  This task does not have to be as difficult as it sounds.  Probably when you purchased your scooter, or it was purchased for you by your insurance carrier, you were probably given instructions about replacement batteries.  When it comes time to replace your mobility scooter batteries, make sure that you are at least replacing the same size that you have in your scooter now.  If you so choose, you can go on line, there are many websites that have batteries for sale, for many different prices.  You can find them as cheaply as $33 or as high as almost $500. But what do you need?  Your scooter is probably carrying two 12 volt battery packs, so you need 24 volts of power.  Are you using Gel Mobility Packs?  If not, you might want to purchase them as they tend to last longer.  You also need to consider how much weight you are putting on your scooter as that makes a difference.  The higher the amp hours you purchase, the more you will pay, but the longer you will have your battery.  Please ask someone who knows about your scooter, because the primary thing in your mobility scooter batteries purchase is your safety.

When I bought my scooter my local dealer said he would be more than pleased to get new batteries for me and fit them when the time came. But, I've traveled loads of miles now and the batteries still seem as good as new. i'm hoping they will last for a long time as they so seem to be costly to replace.

I've found it to be quite easy to change my batteries. It took me a bit of time to become comfortable with my scooter at first. But I soon got used to charging the batteries and found out from my son how easy it is to take them out when sometimes we transport my scooter in his car. I've got friendly with quite a few people who have mobility scooters now since I've been traveling around and they have been very helpful to me.
